Galerie Louise Smit is one of the first galleries in Amsterdam, which specializes in art jewellery. The gallery opened its doors to public in September 1986, at the heart of the historic city centre.
The gallery stands as a significant symbol within the historic development of contemporary jewellery in the Netherlands and worldwide. It promotes renowned Dutch and international artists by organising several solo and group exhibitions.
The resulting gallery collection is a comprehensive and representative overview of the current national and international trends in contemporary jewellery.
The gallery represents its artists annually at several international fairs such as Object Rotterdam and Collect in London, UK. In the forthcoming future the gallery is planning to branch out to other international art fairs.
Since September 2011 Monika Zampa became the new representative of the gallery. She brings to the gallery a young dynamic energy, striving to introduce the field of contemporary jewellery, as an art form, to a wider public. She stands behind the artists, supporting their artistic development and promoting them in the Netherlands and abroad.
